Welcome to my website. I used to have a Family Practice in Airdrie, a vibrant community north of Calgary, Alberta. Before then, I worked in rural Newfoundland and Labrador, and prior to that ran a successful practice in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England. My special clinical interests include general medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT, rheumatology, inflammatory bowel disorders and minor surgery. Over the years I have developed a strong interest in teaching and medical education, and for the past four years have been responsible for the Family Medicine Clinical Clerkship at the University of Calgary. I formerly held the post of Director, Family Medicine Clerkship and held the rank of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Calgary, Alberta. I have also been a Chief Examiner (Calgary) for the Medical Council of Canada, and been a consultant to the Alberta International Medical Graduate Program (AIMG) working for reintegration of non-Canadian graduate re-entry into medical practice.

I qualified in 1978 at the University of Dundee, Scotland and completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Planning, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, Cardio-Thoracic and ENT surgery before entering general practice and later Family Medicine. I hold dual qualifications in Family Practice from the UK and Canada. My degrees and certificates are BSc (Hons), MBChB, DRCOG, FPCert, LMCC, CCFP. I am a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, American Academy of Family Physicians, Canadian Association of Medical Education (CAME), Associate Membership of the Royal College of Family Practitioners, England, the Canadian Medical Association, the General Medical Council, and the British Medical Association.

I have now taken up a teaching position at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q), as the Director of Primary Care and Clinical Skills. My special interests are diabetes, thyroid disorders, skin cancer, anticoagulant therapy, medical communication, and cardiology in primary care.
